Thumped!

The boys got well and truly thumped yesterday (36-7) and deserved it - worst game they've played all season! Some days they just don't seem to want to bother. Still, they'll finish the round in the top 5 which assures them a place in the championship round and the points don't carry forward, so there's hope yet.

Jake played his guts out, as usual, and it really showed by the end. Pulled calf muscle, a neck strain and he took a head-butt (accidental) to the mouth. Don't worry, Mum, he's fine; just getting the teeth checked by the dentist today. It shows the value of mouthguards - he would have lost some teeth otherwise.

I'm back at work today, probably feeling about 90% right. I've done no exercise since Sunday, so I'm feeling very sluggish, but I'll take the dog for a walk tonight. My eating has been so-so but I'm not too worried about it.

Hope everyone's week is going okay, catch you later.

You still sound a little 'blah' so don't go pushing yourself but a walk in the crisp air might just be what you need to blow away the cob webs.

Mouth guards will be on our shopping list in a few years. Just thinking about the dentist (and the bills) makes me shudder. LOL.

Enjoy your day at work :D

Hey Sue

Poor Jake! Wee soul.

I hope you feel back on top form soon. Just take it easy for a few more days.

Hey Sue!
Like you, I've been sick this week too! It's been the first time I've been sick since being healthy and I can't get over the guilt that I'm not out there moving my flabby butt! Hope you feel better soon, Kenz

You're a madwoman, but it suits you ;oP.

No good re Jake's game, I bet he needed a good soak in a hot tub afterwards. Hits would hurt even more in the cold too - ouch!

Had to smile re your categorising underwater hockey as a non-sport. We have this same 'discussion' after a few drinks while watching sport. Personally I don't think darts, motorsport of all kinds and golf (to name a few) are sports. The boy and I agree on most, but we get stuck on track and field, I say it's sport, the boy doesn't. He sees it as an "athletic endeavour" as there are no tactics other than "run fast" or "jump high/far" involved. He thinks individual cycling isn't a sport, but team events, such as the Madison, are. Personally I think his sports have to be team-based, but then he says singles tennis is a sport as players build points and have the chance to affect their opponents performance. It's a great debate! What else do you classify as a non-sport?

Jump on our soccer bandwagon, it's HUGE! I pretty much see Australia and NZ as one and the same and unless it's Aus v NZ I go for NZ; I'm pro antipodeans and pretty much everyone I know thinks the same. I used to think the reverse applied...until I visited NZ. I saw more crap hung on Australia in all domains (even via phone company ads on TV that showed two scrawny white skips on the beach with large dark Maoris??) than I did anything good about NZ. Why the preoccupation? I went to a Blues game with some ex All Blacks (don't ask me who) from the bank that took us, and as soon as they heard we were Aussies they did not let up. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but still found it highly amusing. Bring it on!

At least the boys aren't out of the comp so they're just having an off week too. Oohh, the injuries! My brother plays too and he split his head open the other week but do you think he stops? Nope, went to play another game and training the next day!

Sounds like you still need some rest so take it easy Sue.

It's always hard to cop a loss when you know you've deserved to lose through crappy playing. Hope you're 100% soon.
