Diet burnout!

I know, I know, we're not dieting, we're changing our lifestyles.

I don't care what you bloody call it - I'm bored with it!

I'm going through this real stage of being completely OVER the food I eat. Just a bit sick of it all really. And that lowers my resistance, so I eat stuff I shouldn't - and far too much of it.

I obviously haven't really found what triggers my eating, because I don't seem to be able to stop myself.

So. What to do?

I'm going to Auckland tomorrow and coming home on Thursday. Then off to Raurimu for the weekend to see if there's any snow worth ski-ing on.

I'm not going to count points at all until Monday. I will try to be good with my eating.

Then, next week, I'm going to try and bring some variety back into my food. More planning should help with this.

This isn't going to beat me. The weight loss WILL continue!

Could you give yourself a set amount of "time off" and then get back to it? Like a holiday from work.

I know they sprout all the changing lifestyle crap, but as if it's really like that. I see it as like being an alcoholic, they may have been sober for 10 years, but they will always be al alcoholic.

And you will get there. I know it, you know it, we all know it! You're just at a pitstop.

Hi Sue
I've been feeling like that for a couple of months now re:WW. I can't bring myself to counting points yet, but try to eat properly in the meantime (discounting the two Tim Tams I had yesterday!!) I've been reading Rochester's "Confessions of a Reformed Dieter" and find that it helps! : )
I'm so very close to goal, and want to get there, so I'm not giving up totally...

You sound like you just need a break for a little while. I think your idea of bringing back some variety and planning will certainly help the boredom factor. That's kind of why I am doing the weekly healthy cooking challenge on my blog now.

I hope you have a great week off! I'm sure it won't mean lots of junk food either because you've come so far. You'll suprise yourself by how much better you eat instinctively now as well.

It is hard that is for sure. I went through all of July like that. I just couldn't be bothered. It wasn't because I didn't want to lose weight just that I was bored with what I was eating. So I brought some more WW recipe books and there are some yummy things in there so I changed what I usually ate and tried some things I wouldn't necessarily chose.

Hope you have fun in Auckland

Love CM

Have a great time away and I hope there is enough snow to give you a great ski.

Shaking things up should definitely help. And really, like a lot of people have found, one week off and eating heaps of crap can give you a renewed motivation to stay on the lifestyle change because in the end, it is called junk food for a reason.

Have a great time :)

I have now moved sites and don't want to advertise the address so that my stalker can find me so if you would like the address could you please email me via my old site.

I think everyone has pit stops and such along the way. It is a lifestyle change in the sense that you are trying to change the way you live your life, and permanently. It's a huge task, and sometimes we need time out to reassess and get our head together.

I hope you find some good snow to ski on!

I understand completely how you feel - you have come a huge way on your journey and sometimes you just need a break - if all else fails perhaps concentrate on maintaining your current weight and see how that goes. Take care and be good to yourself.

I think that taking a break from counting points is a wonderful idea. I know exactly what you mean about being "over" it - we're not superhuman after all. I have no doubt that you'll be able to get back into it when you get back. Just try and eat healthily where you can. You're powering along.

And I have to smile at your last post - I live in a boys' house too, and we need the little things like that to keep us sane! I suppose I have all that 'blokey' stuff to look forward too!

Have a great time away. You have come so far with your weight loss and you have done such an awesome job and you deserve to have a few days of not thinking about it. Just enjoy yourself.

I agree with CM and Big Col, new recipes and a bit more slack should see you through this period.

I've just bought some new healthy snacks to spice up my own food variety, Sunsweet Pitted Prunes, and Sunsweet Dried Apricots. Sweet and healthy!

a change is as good as a holiday, enjoy your few days off points & come back rearing to go!

You'll definitely get there, I had been feeling in a similar way lately, but have been able to spice up my foods with lots of yummy salads (with FETA!). :-)
