Sleepless in Strathmore

Although I sleep much better now that I exercise regularly, I do still have bouts of sleeplessness. I have put up with this for most of my adult life, so I don't let it stress me out and I know I can easily get by on three or four hours sleep.

If I'm lying awake I like to be able to read, but the man is a darkness freak so I can't turn the light on. I often get up and sit in the lounge reading for an hour or so, then go back to bed for some more sleep.

I used insomnia to my advantage when I was studying. Most of my papers were written in the small hours of the morning. In my single days I often used to do housework then too - but vacuuming at 2am soon stopped once I started living with someone!

Right, now that I've revealed what a freak I really am...

This morning at 4am I was stupid enough to go on the internet and pop into one of my favourite blogs - Waiter Rant. So going back to bed for more sleep never happened - just straight into the shower at 6.30 instead!

Mummy skite - my lovely boy (yes, folks, the babe from the fridge) made prefect at school this year.

Bwahaha...freak. I've been up for quite a while too now and find that I can't just lie in bed, I need to go and read or something also. Will check out the link! I hope you have a great day :-)

I thought I was the only one who couldn't sleep at night - YAY for finding out others are the same !!!
Luckily for me Al can sleep through anything so I can stay in bed and read and then hopefully fall asleep before the alarm goes off.
Cheers for now and good luck for the triathlon !!!

My man would wake straight away if I turned the light on so quite often I sneak out of bed and find another spot for me and my book.

Have a wonderful day:)

I havs suffered from insomnia for years and it goes through phases. Quite bad at the moment so I can relate to the middle of the night computer/tv/book. Problem is that this is when I am sometimes weak and eat as well.............
Not long to the triathalon. You must be getting excited.

I am a bit of a sleepy head myself, so if I wake during the night I get really cranky!!!

You must be so proud of your prefect boy!

Good luck for the triathlon.

Yay for being a prefect - what a great thing to have on your CV, but also - a great experience!

I sometimes have a lot of trouble sleeping too (when pregnant usually) - and I hate just laying there. If I have a good book I can sometimes go a few hours just reading - if Joseph is snoring, I know it's safe to turn on the light, lol.

Woohooo for your son (he he and his proud mum)

I know what you mean about not sleeping! I am just the same and hubby hates the light on too.

Sigh

Have you tried Valerian? It is a natural sedative, or even some Chamomile?

As for being the happiest at the triathlon, I am so stoked for you, not even a year gone and you have lost 45.7kg, that is a mammoth effort and you impress me no end. So have a great time and enjoy every second of your accomplishment.

Congratulations to Jake. That is a great achievement. I was Captain of a primary school I went to and it really does help make you stand out when you are going for interviews for jobs. Well done to him.

And good luck for Sunday. Not sure if I will have a chance to blog before then and want to wish you great weather, and a successful triathlon. You are amazing and I can't wait to see how you got on. Have a wonderful time.

Will check out that link after I have finished the housework because by the sounds of it I won't get much done if I start reading LOL.

I think you are great Sue :D

Hi Sue. Wanted to pop in to wish you luck for the big race tomorrow. I can't believe that this is the same person who started this blog all those months ago. What a legend you are! Your gorgeous, clever prefect son and the rest of your family must be vry proud of you.

BTW, my husband always suggests the same cure for my insomnia. Of course, it always involves some horizontal folk dancing. Idiot. I'm sure your husband would approve of it too. Men are dumb.
