Photo time!

For all those tedious reasons you've now read about, I hadn't got around to posting photos of Jake's departure.

The day before he left was ANZAC Day, so I had a whole day off to help him rush around and get things organised. His lovely Wellington auntie took this photo that day:

The next morning the boys left Wellington airport at 8.30. A crowd of friends turned out to say goodbye, which was lovely and also helped distract me. Here Jake is with his mate Jacob - the one he's travelling with. And yes, Jake is still slightly drunk from going out the night before. His hangover hit somewhere between Auckland and Kuala Lumpur.

And a last shot with his mum before he went off to discover the world (I wonder if anyone thought to warn the world before he went?).

As far as I know, they're in Spain at the moment - that's what his very brief email on Tuesday said. Don't ask me where in Spain, all I got was a country, no details.

LOL you get used to not knowing too many details about their whereabouts, it's always great to keep getting those emails coming in, even if there are a bit brief.

Love the photo of you and Jake together:-)

I love that photo Sue, he looks like he's leaning in to comfort you, let you know he is close and protect you a little bit. What a darling son you have.

Gorgeous photo of you two. Here I was saying I could imagine how you were feeling but I guess I couldnt because Gareth is now planning to go to Europe to work/live, leaving soonish, and I am not just sad I am devastated. Hope all is going smoothly for Jake and Co and I hope I am as brave as you when my time comes (maybe it wont?).

You look a lot more together in that photo than my Mum was when I left to go overseas...Both she and I were HYSTERICAL. LOL! I should email you the photo so you get a laugh...I was 25, the first in my family to go overseas, and went alone, knowing not one person in England. YOu are so lucky your son went with a mate! How long is he gone for?

Good to see you are hanging in there and looking forward...

Can't be bothered logging into blogger to leave this comment! LOL!

Sue, have only just managed to catch up on your last few posts, and I am so sorry to hear that you have been having such a rough time. My thoughts are with you as you go through this big change in your life, I am glad to read that you feel you have done the right thing, as long as it is right for you, and you have people who love and support you, things will work out well for you.

Take care,

Love Joc

Sue. I am sorry to hear the news but it is great to know that it is all done for your reasons, and that you have been kind to yourself since then. At any age - when you have been with someone that long - it becomes easier to stay for the wrong reasons than leave for the right ones.

I am more sorry for being slack in this blogging world and not being there when you needed it. I am thinking of you.
