As if I needed another exercise challenge...

...but of course I can't resist!

My gym is running a 5 minute rowing challenge - how far can you row in 5 minutes.

On my first go I managed 1135m.

That puts me third among the women. Apparently the two people ahead of me are a 14 year old basketballer who stands over 185cm (6'1") and a 30 year old triathlete.

Therefore, I consider myself to be leading the masters' section!

I'll try again next weekend. I've worked out I have to stay over 42 strokes a minute (geek) to whip their arses.

Not that I'm competitive...

Wowsers, I'm impressed. I've been trying to do 1000 metres in 5 minutes and can't make it.

Wow 42 strokes a min! That is impressive! When I was gymming, I was doing about 30/32 strokes a min and thought I was good! LOL Can't wait to hear how you get on with the challenge!!!
Have a great week.

instead of upping the number of strokes, up the strength behind the stokes ... that way you'll row further with less effort :) - shit that didnt make sense did it? LOL - I guess I'm saying ... pull harder not faster ... woohoo go Sue! - 1100 mtrs is nothing to sniff at, nice work!

Oh WOW! I think you're doing GREAT already! Sheeeesh... that's a lot of rowing me thinks! Well... I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines! (don't guess they have sidelines in rowing... but that's where I'll be anyway!)

Thank goodness you are competitive, and obviously very fit. I don't think I could row at that pace for 1 minute even.

Just go easy on them Sue. Can't be a good thing to see a 14 yo and a 30 yo cry. Make it look like they put up a good fight.

Oh my tummy gets in the way on the rower but I can totally see the competiveness with it. Even if it is against yourself.

Pwwwoar, you're a bloody champ!
